Solar Energy-The New Solution?
Energy direct from the Sun
A Solar power system uses the suns light and transforms it into a source of energy.
Conventional Power sources have given way to solar energy in remote areas as a reliable alternative. It is also used out in space. Solar power systems are used widely in lighting, homes, cooking and architectural programs. The popularity of solar energy has improved over the increasingly expensive fossil fuels. The main function of solar panels is to collect and focus the sun’s power.
Once the solar energy has been collected by the solar panels it needs to be converted into useable energy. This can be done by a process called solar thermal application. It involves using the energy from the sun to directly heat air or liquids. The photoelectric application uses photovoltaic cells to transform energy into electricity.
As it is poses no harm to the environment, solar power is really a true green enrgy. There are however other problems to the environment which could adversly affect the ability to utilise solar power systems in the future. Pollution has caused global dimming. It diminishes the quantity of sunlight reaching the surface of the earth. A concern in recent times is global dimming, effectively a pollution issue that reduces the amount of sunlight reaching the surface of the earth. Global warming and pollution particles is the cause of global dimming.
The Solar Electric Power Association is a group formed by electric utility companies and the solar power industry. They fused to look for the solutions to deilver our energy requirements. SEPA is a network of more than one hundred companies. There are fifty utility companies, twenty five solar companies and the others are made up of a variety of business types. They discuss various policies and technologies relating to their area of expertise along with sharing experiences and knowledge about solar programs.
Is solar energy right for you? With fossil fuels depleting there are clear advantages to the use of this safe alternative. Once installed solar energy is free. It can be utilised in a lot of places where conventional electricity is difficult to install. The sun’s resources are not going to dissapear in the near future. Disadvantages are that it doesn’t work at night. Creating solar power stations to store energy would be extremely expensive.
In some parts of the world the climate is such that solar energy is not an option as there is just not enough natural sunlight.
